Knowledge Centre

Plain-English guides to hosting, domains, email and security in Australia.

The GoodHost Knowledge Centre is a reference library for the questions that come up when you put a business online in Australia, or move one that is already there. It is written for the person who runs the business, not for a system administrator, so it works both as a plain web hosting guide for Australia and as a place to check one specific detail at speed.

Every page follows the same shape. The question sits in the heading, a direct answer sits underneath it, and the detail comes after that for anyone who wants it. Prices are in Australian dollars and marked as excluding GST. Where a rule is set by somebody else, such as auDA’s eligibility conditions for a .com.au licence, it is quoted as the rule actually stands rather than softened into something friendlier.

The material is grouped by the decision you are making rather than by product. Choosing a first plan, sorting out a domain, working out why email keeps bouncing, deciding whether to leave your current host: the guides for each of those sit together, and none of them assume you have read anything else first. Where two topics genuinely overlap, the guides link across to each other rather than repeating the explanation.

If you would rather look at plans than read about them, the web hosting page lists what is available and what each tier includes. Otherwise start wherever your problem is.
